Jacquard knit is a process where the pattern is incorporated into the weave rather than printed or dyed on.
Jacquard refers to the loom used which allows the shuttle to run between the threads like a ship passing through a tunnel to leave what look like a seamless and integrated effect.
The Jacquard machine is a device fitted to a power loom that simplifies the process of manufacturing textiles with such complex patterns as brocade, damask and matelassé. It was invented by Joseph Marie Jacquard in 1804.
Through the process of using a Jacquard loom you can produce anything from the sweetest of pretty florals to the craziest of Christmas jumpers!
